How can an institution sustain meaningful assessment and complete the assessment cycle while constructing curricula to ensure academic excellence? This session offers two answsers. At Brandman University, faculty converted all on-ground courses to a blended format, and at the same time built in a 5-phase process to assure learning. Each step in the redesign of blended courses was synchronized, in a perfect dance, with the building of the program assessment structure and cycle. At Loyola Marymount University, an outcome map is utilized to connect educational practices with specific learning outcomes. The map supports assessment in at least three ways: by showing how an outcome is addressed; by locating assignments from which to collect data; and by pointing toward the best places to make changes for improvement.
