Imagine that we can dramatically increase the number of citizens with access higher education in just a few years by combining the power of technology and the internet with the best approaches to teaching and learning. This session opens with an overview of DGREE, an initiative that brings together business leaders, venture capitalists, educational foundations, university leaders, and accreditors. Their shared goal is to envision the future of higher education and the power of technology and innovation to drive new models for student-centered, sustainable educational ecosystems. The second half of the session focuses on an example at Presidio Graduate School. Built around the principles of systems thinking and sustainability, the program provides an educational ecosystem that is made possible by combining competencies for the 21st century with innovative technology. Thus this session offers a synthesis of curriculum design for sustainability, assessment of student learning outcomes, hybrid technology platforms, and policy reform to revitalize higher education.
