Learning goals form an indispensable part of an institution's intellectual capacity. Far from being ballast that can be jettisoned in challenging times, such goals can serve as an engine of integration to power the institution through rough waters. Learning centered, WASC accredited institutions need to integrate institutional learning outcomes both vertically and horizontally. In this session, four institutions share their methodologies, strategies, practices, and insights. One is a community college; three are system peers - very different campuses but subject to many of the same conditions, including financial stress. The session demonstrates ways to anchor an outcomes-focused education in the curriculum and co-curriculum, and even integrate work and transfer experiences, using infrastructure, technology, and innovative approaches to assessment. The results can enhance an accreditation review.
