What makes good teaching great? What transforms an average classroom experience into something exceptional? As a complex blend of quality dimensions, teaching in the collegiate classroom is both an art and a science. This poster addresses effective teaching as a transformative process involving many dimensions of academic quality. Professional development and interdisciplinary sharing of best practices with colleagues can certainly advance faculty teaching skills. At the same time, innovations derived from the scholarship of teaching and integrative practices can advance teaching skills to a transformative level at which good becomes great, and great promotes institutional sustainability. Implications and focused strategies for the enhancement of teaching at the associate, bachelor, master and doctoral levels will be presented.
