For several years, West Los Angeles College has actively pursued grant funding to supplement innovations in curriculum and assessment. West has received funding from agencies such as the Department of Education (Title V-HSI, Title V PBI, TRiO), Department of Labor (CBJT), Walmart Foundation, City of Los Angeles, and California Community College Chancellor's Office. The Revenue Enhancement Initiative is designed to deliver new programs and services to students, even during a time of economic challenges. Under the leadership of the Vice President of Academic Affairs, the team includes the Grant Development Dean, Career and Technical Education Dean, and key faculty in a variety of disciplines. Firmly believing that planning takes precedence over budgeting, the team develops position papers in key areas and then actively searches for funding sources to support its instructional goals.
