Every college has small pockets of activity where collecting and using evidence of learning outcomes are sustainable. At the program level, these spotty efforts at continuous improvement have largely been driven by the requirements of professional accreditation. But only a few colleges have fully envisioned a college-wide outcomes and assessment system, especially one they can sustain under the current financial and productivity constraints. This session brings together two national consultants with two California college leaders to address the question: What does it take - in terms of vision, leadership, and tools - to move in from small pockets of activity to a college-wide learning outcomes and assessment system, and do it in tough financial times? Four interactive excises will take attendees through the basic steps of the process.
