This panel will consider ways to incorporate environmental and place consciousness into courses and programs across the curriculum. Using examples from their own work at a wide variety of institutions, the panelists will address how to bring sustainability into academic settings. Developing broad-based sustainability curricula has meant engaging the dilemma of learning objectives shared across disciplines and dealing with the question of what common objectives all disciplines and programs might share. The session also includes a discussion of implementation issues and lessons learned. We invite others who are engaged in similar processes or are considering them to participate in this working session, where we will discuss what a sustainability curriculum must include, what it can include, and how it might be tailored to any specific discipline.
