Institutions of higher learning are increasingly concerned about economic and environmental sustainability. One important strategy is blended learning, an underappreciated way to leverage the strengths of face-to-face instruction with virtual learning and distance collaboration. Universities have taken a lead role in the sustainability challenge with the founding of the American College & University Presidents Climate Committee (ACUPCC) and the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE). One area receiving specific attention from ACUPCC and AASHE is student commuting; another is the book and print materials industry. And Congress recently passed the Higher Education Sustainability Act (HESA), which creates a "University Sustainability Grants Program" at the Department of Education. One goal of this poster is to link blended learning with these ongoing programs. Another goal is to outline how sustainability themes can be incorporated into the graduate management curriculum.
