Universities have taken a lead role in the environmental sustainability with the founding of the American College & University Presidents Climate Committee (ACUPCC) and the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE). Congress recently passed the Higher Education Sustainability Act (HESA), which created a grants program in the Department of Education. However, blended and on-line learning (BOL) has received little attention. This session will 1) link the BOL model with ongoing efforts; 2) highlight an online degree program that utilizes a variety of infrastructure components, including Facebook, LinkedIn, Second Life, podcasts, blogs, etc.: and 3) share resources that can be used network and sustain alumni who donate scholarship funds, provide mentoring, and otherwise support current students. In this session clickers will be used to promote active learning, and a sustainability dashboard will also be presented.
