The Obama administration has set an ambitious goal for the US: by 2020, 60% of the US adult population will hold a college degree. To reach this goal, President Obama has proposed a $12 billion dollar initiative known as the College Access and Completion/American Graduation Initiative, to be made available through the reform of Federal Student Aid. What plans are in development through the U.S. Department of Education to launch this major effort, and how will their plans impact the WASC region? Martha Kanter, former Chancellor of the Foothill-De Anza Community College District and now the #2 person in the US Department of Education, will share her ideas and proposals for initiatives likely to be undertaken. There will be ample time for Q & A and dialogue.
